Mamelodi Sundowns legend and former Cameroon international Roger Feutmba says the current situation will make it difficult for Orlando Pirates to keep out-of-favour striker Soaubou Marou beyond the current season.

The 24-year-old center-forward has failed to make any impact at the Soweto giants since his arrival from Coton Sport in January 2023.

Marou, who was described to be a goalscoring machine by the Cameroonian media, has only made two league appearances this season.

"It's difficult for a foreign player to come to a team and not have any impact for a season," Feutmba tells KickOff.

"It's going to be even more difficult for a team to keep a foreign player who has never had any impact because teams are looking for results, they are looking for trophies.

"They can give him another season to see if he can work harder than he is doing right now, but it will be difficult for him to keep his place at Pirates if they want to bring in another foreign player.

"We also need to take into consideration the financial aspect, because it costs a lot of money to part ways with him.

"But I think because he is a young player, coming to a new country was always going to be difficult. Maybe they can give him another season.

"It was always going to be difficult for him coming to a big team that its league is on a different level compared to the one in Cameroon.

"He needed to adapt very quickly, but unfortunately he didn't manage that, and it's going to be difficult for a team to keep a player like that.

"I believe they should loan him somewhere for him to adapt to South African football because judging by his current situation it's going to be difficult for him to stay at Pirates.

"If Pirates have intentions of bringing in another striker then they should let the young boy go.

"To make sure that they don't lose their investment also, they must try and loan him somewhere."
