Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler says Orlando Pirates only had two clear chances in the entire game on Wednesday evening.

City's winless run extended to ten matches after a second-half brace by Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa.

"I think in the first-half we contained them extremely well, I think we started to frustrate them the longer the half went on, the more difficult it was for them to penetrate, Darren (Keet) didn't have to make a save in that first-half," Tinkler told SuperSport.

"It was just us on the ball, we didn't commit more in attack with two strikers like we have hoped, we didn't really create many chances but I was quite happy with the team's performance in the first-half, we managed to keep nil-nil and obviously frustrate a quality team like Pirates.

"Took a bit of a gamble, made a change at half-time, I thought we needed to be better on the ball in attack and the quality that Pirates possessed in the second-half, two opportunities, two goals, that's the quality that they have and we find ourselves on the losing side," he said.

"But ja, second-half not as great as the first-half in terms of how we contained them but the quality they possess, two opportunities, two goals, so congratulations to them."

City had an appeal for a handball in the box on Pirates player Deon Hotto but Tinkler did not want to dwell on the incident.

"To be honest I can't really comment on that, I saw everybody raising their hand saying it was handball, whether it was or wasn't I don't know, it makes no difference, it wasn't given," he said.

A top eight position in danger?

"We'll keep fighting, don't worry," Tinkler added.
