Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has suggested that they owe it to their fans to give their all in their bid to finish second in the DStv Premiership.

The Buccaneers increased their chances of finishing second after beating Cape Town City 2-0 on Wednesday thanks to a brace by Tshegofatso Mabasa.

"I'm so happy, finally (a win in Cape Town), well deserved, very solid and professional performance from the boys, tough game, I'm upset with the shape of the pitch, not good for both teams, it was difficult to control the match," Riveiro said on SuperSport TV.

"I didn't say anything before because it can sound like an excuse depending on the result but it's a fact, the way we did it today given the circumstances I think it was outstanding.

"Credit to the opponent as well, tactical game, tactical battle especially in the first-half but I think we managed to impose our tempo in the second-half and very well deserved three points," he said.

The Spanish coach went on and said they are doing their best to match the expectations from the supporters.

"We're doing our best, it's the maximum that we can get this season, it's our obligation to give our all. The fans are supporting us wherever we go, they are really excited with the team right now. I think we're playing decent football, scoring goals, that's the most important in the end," he continued.

"So we have to behave like them with passion, motivation and give our all, fight and let's see at the end of the season we're in what position."

Pirates made six changes from their 4-0 win over Royal AM and still managed to get the results.

"I'm lucky coach, wherever I look I have a quality player, most of them they are ready to play, they are in a good shape, it's difficult for me to choose the right ones each and every game," Riveiro said.

"But right now we're involved in a period of five games in a row in a space of less than two weeks, so it's important that everybody is ready to contribute, today is an example, six new players from the last game, people coming from the bench and helping, even if it's only for five minutes, so that's the way," he added.
