Former Orlando Pirates captain Benson Mhlongo backs the free-scoring Soweto giants to continue where they left off against AmaZulu FC.

The fact that AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco Martin was not impressed with the way they lost to the Buccaneers in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup has created huge anticipation for Saturday's league tussle.

This time, they clash in Orlando Stadium.

Last weekend, the Soweto giants beat Usuthu in their backyard, Moses Mabhida Stadium, 4-2 to progress to the semi-finals.

The Sea Robbers are in third position 3 on the DStv Premiership log table, while AmaZulu are sitting 12th.

"Pirates is going to win this game, they've grown in the last couple of months, they are scoring," Mhlongo tells KickOff.

"They are now finishing their chances, which is something that was a big problem before.

"But I'm still concerned with the way they are conceding goals, it's a strong defence that wins you a championship.

"That is why they've been only doing well in the cup competitions compared to the league," he adds.

Mhlongo went on to share his biggest concern regarding the Buccaneers, who are in good form despite having shown an inconsistency that has ensured they are almost unable to catch Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the standings.

"In the league, they've been getting unnecessary draws, that's because they are conceding, and that's my biggest concern at the moment.

"This game is big because the Pirates need to get to the second spot, and on the other hand, the AmaZulu coach is under pressure to finish in a higher position.

"I don't think Mr [Sandile] Zungu [AmaZulu president] has much patience if you finish a season without winning anything.

"Even last week, Pirates were the better team, they deserve that win. Maswangwanyi as well, he is making a big statement."
